Who we are
County Fare (countyfare.org) is a directory of regenerative farms. Questions about privacy: hello@countyfare.org.
The short version
- We don’t use advertising, tracking cookies, or trackers that follow you around the web.
- We measure visits with our own self-hosted, open-source analytics tool. Your IP address is shortened before anything is stored, and the data stays with us.
- We never sell or share your information.
What we collect when you visit
Analytics
We run our analytics on our own server; no analytics company receives your data. For each visit it records the pages you view and when, the website or search engine you came from, your browser, operating system, device type, screen size and language, your approximate location (country and region, estimated from a shortened IP address), and clicks on a farm’s phone number, email address or website link on a farm listing, so we know which listings are useful.
Before anything is stored, the last two parts of your IP address are removed, so it can’t identify you. Our analytics sets no cookies. If your browser sends a “Do Not Track” signal, nothing is recorded for your visit.
Detailed visit records are kept for 25 months so we can compare one year with the next, then deleted automatically. We keep summary reports (totals such as page views per month) that contain no individual visit data.
Opting out of analytics
Server logs
Like every website, our hosting provider’s servers record technical details of each request (such as IP address, time and page requested) to deliver the site and keep it secure. These logs are kept for a short period and are not used to track you.
Cookies
We don’t set cookies for visitors. The only exceptions: if you opt out of analytics above, a small cookie remembers that choice on your browser, and site administrators get a cookie when they log in.
When you contact us
If you email us, we use your address and message only to reply, and keep the correspondence only as long as needed to handle your request.
Information about farms
County Fare lists farms using business information they publish themselves on their own websites and in their public Google business listings: the farm’s name, address, phone number, email, website, opening hours, products and farming practices as the farm describes them, its overall Google rating and number of reviews, and its own share image or logo, credited and linked to the farm’s website. We don’t copy the text of Google reviews, and we only show reviews that have a source attached.
If you run a listed farm, you can ask us to correct or update your listing, remove your image, or remove your listing entirely. Email hello@countyfare.org and we’ll handle it promptly.
Who processes data for us
- Our hosting provider hosts the website and our analytics and delivers pages through its content delivery network. Its servers are in the United States.
- Our email hosting provider stores and delivers messages you send us.
No other companies receive your data. Fonts and all site files are served from our own server.
Your rights
You can ask us to show you the personal data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its use, or give you a copy. Because analytics data is anonymized we usually can’t link it back to you, but we’ll help where we can. Email hello@countyfare.org; we’ll respond within one month. We do not sell or share personal information.
Children
County Fare is not aimed at children under 16, and we don’t knowingly collect their personal data.
AI Content Generation Disclaimer
County Fare utilizes artificial intelligence (AI) tools to assist in content creation for our website and newsletter. While we strive to ensure the accuracy and quality of all our content, please be aware that some portions may be generated or enhanced by AI technologies. We always review and edit AI-generated content to align with our standards and values.
This project was first conceived in 2006 and had a small revival in 2013. In both instances, time constraints and family obligations restricted its creation. The idea, the name, and the research conducted are still very valid today. The advent of new technologies means the challenges faced in the past are now completely surmountable.
County Fare is human-powered with an AI assist. That being said, mistakes can happen in content creation, whether human or machine-generated. If any inaccuracies or unauthorized content makes it through our processes, please contact us to let us know. We will make the appropriate changes.
We value your input and collaboration in maintaining the quality and integrity of our content.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle data, we’ll update this page and the date at the top, and post a notice on the site for significant changes.
